Environment Virginia works to champion the environmental values we share and to protect our air, water and special places. Every new year kicks off with the legislative session of the Virginia General Assembly. 

Whenever decisions that affect the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the places we love are being made in Washington, our advocates are there to speak and act on your behalf and on behalf of the environment we all share.

This Earth Day your family can commemorate the occasion with fun ways to learn about the planet and how to protect it.

Whether teaching online or in person, there are many ways teachers can celebrate Earth Day with their students this year!

With Virginia's bold action on climate change, clean energy and plastic pollution, among other environmental issues, it's safe to say the once-purple commonwealth is trending green. 

In one of its final acts, the Trump administration struck down vital protections for Northern spotted owls: The administration opened up 3.4 million acres of their protected habitat for logging and other development.

A bipartisan law in Virginia could have ripple effects on the health of our wildlife and wild places for generations to come. 

Virginia will soon be for lovers of electric vehicles, too.
